I got off work the last day of school and was jumping for joy because we were soon going to be on our way to Florida for a little getaway.

I don't know about you guys, but I LOVE the feeling before a good road trip. We blasted our music and rolled the windows down. I love adventures with my best friend.

The first couple of days we had to ourselves which was actually very needed and then the McGee's and Forsyth's came down! It had been so long since we've seen our besties Nile and Brittany so it was nice catching up with them! Its so crazy to think that they already have two kids, like when did we all grow up?! I loved taking some family pics for them!

Only Brittany can look this good after having a baby a month ago?!

We mostly just all hung out and relaxed on the beach. I held baby Stella preeetty much the whole time. She was only a month old!! And of course, attempted to paddle board in the ocean. We fell so many times! Big fat Fail!

We had a devotional on the beach with all of the cousins and it was such a spiritual experience. I love learning from the cousins. Even though they are close to my age, I feel like they have so much wisdom. We all have different situations and lifestyles so its nice we can all learn from each other and I think it honestly helps our testimonies grow. We talked a lot about how we all need to be a support system for each other and reach out to other people to make their day a little brighter. Sometimes I forget how much of an influence we can be. We need more good in the world. And I'm grateful that my family strives for that.

One good thing about this trip is that everyone is a photographer/videographer! So we all took turns taking pictures of each other on the beach! Man, that does come in handy!

I think we should make it a habit on going on at least one family vacation a year. Its so refreshing to be able to relax and get ready for the craziness of life. Austin and I sat by the beach and made a list of what all we wanted to accomplish this summer and year to come; which doesn't sound like fun but it actually motivates us! We always try to stay on the same page when it comes to this stuff. It's important. Life is what you make it :)
Anyways, I'm glad we got a little bit of a getaway before the craziness of summer starts!

Cruel Coincidence

I remember like it was yesterday. Austin and I were in our backyard, watering our plants, getting ready to meet up with our best friends who were visiting from out of town. We were wrapping things up when Austin got a call from his dad Rex. I didn't pay much attention because we talk to our parents all the time. We knew Tearnie and Connor were on their One Year Anniversary trip so when I had heard him on the phone mentioning her name I didn't think anything of it. Austin hung up the phone and just kind of stood there quietly for a while. I was about to walk inside our house when Austin grabbed my hand and told me that Tearnie was in a boating accident. He started to cry and I was so confused. He went on to say that Connor was struck by lightning and passed away.
I lost it. My mind went blank. My body numb.
I remember collapsing on the grass and sobbing. Austin pulled me up, we both got in the car and headed to Arkansas.

After a three hour drive that felt like eternity, we finally made it to the hospital. We immediately went to where Tearnie and the rest of the family were. Austin took his sister into his arms and just held her. Looking back I am so glad we went to the hospital because it was evident how much she needed one of her brothers there to comfort her. Their sibling bond is so strong.
In the hospital we said our last goodbyes to Connor. He looked so peaceful. The spirit was so strong in the room, we could all feel his presence.

The next few weeks all of our {the family's} days/nights were spent with Tearnie. Trying our best to comfort her and just do whatever we could to help this horrible situation a little less painful.
The funeral was absolutely perfect. So many people attended from all different backgrounds, it was really neat to see. It just showed how much Connor loved others and lived his life to the fullest. He was so passionate about everything he did. He loved the people around him and loved life fiercely. I think we can all let him be our inspiration and follow in his example.

I think we can all agree on the fact that life isn't fair sometimes. We may not always understand why things happen the way they do. Why Heavenly Father would take Connor away from his beautiful wife, family and friends, but I have faith that Heavenly Father must have needed him more than we know, and that someday, we will finally see the big picture and understand. I also have faith that we will see Connor again. He may not be here on this earth anymore but his is still living. We will see him again, I have no doubt.

And to Tearnie- you are the strongest person I have ever known. To think about how much you have accomplished in a years time with so many trials, is incredible to say the least. I have no idea how you've done it, but I definitely look up to you as a role model.

Connor had a way of lighting up a room wherever he was. He made everyone laugh. He was hilarious! One of my favorite memories was when he made me cry my eyes out in Steak n Shake because I was laughing so hard at him. AND almost peed my pants in a restaurant in Kansas City because he was just so dang goofy! I am also glad we had one last family dinner with him. He pulled a prank on Austin with his old truck he had just got. And also stopping every 20 minutes on our road trip because he kept having to use the bathroom! I think I said "Connor STOP PEEING!" About a million times on that trip lol These are the kinds of memories we need to keep of him.
He has such a special spirit. One in a million. I can't wait to see him again someday. I feel honored to call him family. Love you CaCa.
